Peloton is one of the world’s leading indoor fitness platforms, offering thousands of cycling and spin classes as well as yoga and strength training workouts.

However, the $44 monthly membership fee is an expensive commitment. So, can you ride a Peloton without paying for a subscription?

Free trial periods

Are you interested in trying out cycling, yoga, strength training or meditation? Sign up for a free trial period to get started. It’s available online as well as through devices such as the App Store, GooglePlay and FireTV.

The 90-day trial period is an ideal way to test out the app, though you will be charged once it expires. Furthermore, please be aware that free trials don’t include access to treadmill or bike features.

Peloton offers three levels of memberships: digital, Connect Fitness and All Access. Each offers unlimited classes as well as access to leaderboard competitions.

Free classes

Peloton offers a selection of free classes, from running and strength training to yoga. These live and on-demand workouts are led by certified instructors, so you can improve your fitness while staying at home.

These classes don’t provide performance metrics, leaderboards or structured classes like subscription-only classes provide, but they’re still ideal for getting started. Plus you get to join a community of people working towards similar fitness objectives so you’re sure to find some support along the way!

You can try out a Peloton bike or tread without an obligation to purchase. It’s the perfect way to see if you like the equipment and classes before committing.

Instructor-guided classes

If you don’t want to commit to a membership, Peloton offers instructor-guided classes free of charge that can be used with its bike or tread. These sessions provide an ideal starting point in starting your exercise journey.

Classes can be accessed via the app and/or on-demand. While they may not be as intense as studio sessions, they provide a similar experience.

In addition to classes, you can also enjoy their scenic rides on demand. These are an ideal way to unwind after a hard workout.

If you don’t have a subscription, their strength training classes can still be used and the movement tracking feature will tell which muscles have been worked on during each class. This information will allow you to keep tabs on your fitness progress and suggest suitable workouts for subsequent sessions.

Signing up for a membership on Peloton grants you access to all the bike and tread content, along with the freedom to create and save your own workouts. Plus, the company provides additional content like yoga, walking, and strength workouts – all for just $79.95!

Community

When you join Peloton, you become part of a supportive community. Whether you join an in-person class or access on-demand workouts, your Leaderboard names will be there to cheer you on!

In 2020, Peloton co-founder John Foley sent a letter to his employees outlining their company’s anti-racism commitment. It is evident that Peloton has taken this responsibility seriously; their user diversity is more representative of America’s population than most traditional bike companies.

Tonoka Metoyer, a medical sales representative, began biking through Black Peloton and has since completed over 250 rides of various lengths and intensity. She says the service has helped her get back in shape after never being active before.

She finds inspiration in the Peloton community, where she’s met people from all backgrounds both online and in real life. Through Peloton, she has formed friendships and found a sense of belonging.
